For medical professionals

For those wishing to work abroad:

Persons travelling abroad and seeking to work in a regulated profession in the Member States of the European Union, the European Economic Area or the Swiss Confederation (hereinafter referred to as the Member State) must apply to the Accreditation Service for the issuance of a certificate attesting to the compliance of the professional qualification acquired in Lithuanian educational institutions and the documents confirming the evidence of this formal qualification with the requirements of Directive 2005/36/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council, as well as a certificate of approval of good practice (hereinafter referred to as the certificate).

For those wishing to work in Lithuania:

For citizens of the European Union

Recognition of professional qualifications acquired in a Member State applies if:

  • you are a citizen of the European Union, the European Economic Area or the Swiss Confederation (hereinafter referred to as a Member State), who has acquired your professional qualification in another Member State and wishes to work in the Republic of Lithuania in your profession, which is a regulated profession in the Republic of Lithuania;
  • you are a citizen of the Republic of Lithuania, who has acquired your professional qualification in another Member State and wishes to work in the Republic of Lithuania in your profession, which is a regulated profession in the Republic of Lithuania.

For third-country nationals
  • are a third-country national who has obtained your professional qualification in a third country and you wish to work in the Republic of Lithuania in your profession, which is a regulated profession in the Republic of Lithuania;
  • you are a national of a Member State who has obtained your professional qualification in a third country and you wish to work in the Republic of Lithuania in your profession, which is a regulated profession in the Republic of Lithuania.
