Notifications to Authorities for Cross-Border Activities in the EU
In accordance with EU requirements, before commencing activities in another country or posting employees abroad, you may be required to officially notify the competent authorities. Below you will find direct links to the most important notification procedures and forms provided by Lithuanian authorities:
If an employee of a Lithuanian company or a self-employed person temporarily goes to work in another EU Member State, an application for an A1 certificate must be submitted to Sodra.
A foreign employer temporarily posting employees to work in the Republic of Lithuania must submit a declaration to the State Labour Inspectorate (VDI) before the employees commence work.
Temporary Provision of Regulated Professional Services
If you intend to provide services in a regulated profession on a temporary or occasional basis in another EU Member State, you are required to submit a prior written declaration to the competent authority of the host country:
The declaration must be submitted to the relevant Lithuanian competent authority (e.g. the Ministry of Health, the Chamber of Dentists, or another competent body, depending on the profession). Information on regulated professions and competent authorities is available here.
Official information on the requirements and notification procedures applicable in other EU countries is provided by the Assistance Centre of the Republic of Lithuania for the Recognition of Professional Qualifications.
