EUR 1 billion for the Lithuanian economy: EU investment of EUR 42 million for industrial enterprises in Kaunas, Šiauliai and Telšiai regions
A EUR 42 million call for funding for industrial enterprises operating in Kaunas, Šiauliai and Telšiai regions has been launched. The funding will be targeted at reducing dependence on fossil fuels and upgrading equipment to make it eco-friendlier and adapted to less polluting fuels.

“Transformation is needed to make industrial enterprises operating in Lithuanian regions more competitive and less polluting. With this in mind, we will provide funding that will not only modernise these industrial enterprises, but will also contribute to the European Union’s goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 40 per cent by 2030,” says Aušrinė Armonaitė, Minister of the Economy and Innovation.

The applicants for this measure are industrial enterprises operating in Kaunas, Šiauliai and Telšiai regions that are not participating in the EU Emission Trading Scheme. Project partners are not possible. Projects will be selected by way of a tendering procedure.

Up to EUR 39.9 million will be available for SMEs and up to EUR 2.1 million for large enterprises.

The maximum amount of funding available for a project is EUR 2 million. The minimum amount of funding available for a project is EUR 20 000.

“To reduce our dependence on fossil fuels, we have foreseen investments in the use of alternative fuels and in the installation of equipment that meets high environmental standards. Alternative fuels will replace polluting materials such as gas, oil and fuel oil, and industrial equipment will be upgraded to eco-friendly and non-polluting one, e.g. fossil-fuel boilers will be replaced by heat pumps of renewable energy. This equipment will use electricity and other eco-friendly materials,” says Iveta Paludnevičiūtė, Chancellor of the Ministry of the Economy and Innovation.

The Innovation Agency accepts applications by 18 September 2023.
