Lithuania Strengthens Cooperation with Poland and the United States in the Space Sector: Important Memorandums Signed
Lithuania’s space sector continues to strengthen international partnerships and expand cooperation with key players in the global space industry. Innovation Agency Lithuania has recently signed two significant memorandums of understanding – with the Polish Space Agency (POLSA) and the U.S. space infrastructure company Vast. These agreements open new opportunities for Lithuanian businesses, research institutions, and international projects.

Strengthening Strategic Cooperation with Poland

An important milestone for Lithuania’s space sector was the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Polish Space Agency POLSA. The agreement is aimed at strengthening regional cooperation in space technologies, innovation, scientific research, and business development, while fostering closer partnerships among countries in the Baltic Sea region.

The memorandum will create opportunities for more active cooperation between Lithuanian and Polish institutions, companies, and research organizations, encouraging the development of joint projects and participation in international space initiatives. It is also expected to contribute to stronger regional supply chains and promote Europe’s technological autonomy.

The strengthening of cooperation with POLSA follows the international conference “Vilnius Space Days 2026” held in Vilnius, where Poland participated as the guest of honor and one of the key partners of the event. During the conference, the Lithuania–Poland Space Business Forum brought together more than 100 participants, while over 30 companies presented their products and services and engaged in bilateral business meetings.

“Cooperation with Poland is particularly important today in strengthening the region’s space ecosystem and Europe’s technological resilience. We see strong potential for joint Lithuanian-Polish projects in the development of space technologies. Partnership with POLSA will help our companies and research institutions become more actively involved in international initiatives and create high value-added solutions,” says Paulius Kamaitis, Acting Head of Innovation Agency Lithuania.

Cooperation with U.S. Company Vast

Innovation Agency Lithuania has also signed a memorandum of understanding with the U.S. company Vast, which is developing commercial space station projects, to engage Lithuania’s space industry in international space activities and scientific research.

Under the agreement, the parties will explore opportunities for joint scientific research activities either in the International Space Station National Laboratory or aboard Haven-1 – the world’s first commercial space station, scheduled for launch in 2027. The partnership also includes plans to strengthen educational programs in Lithuania and expand cooperation with local businesses.

“Such agreements are important for Lithuania not only because of increased international visibility, but also because they create real opportunities for our companies and scientists to participate in high value-added space projects. Cooperation with international partners opens new perspectives for Lithuania’s space ecosystem and contributes to its growth,” says P. Kamaitis.
