EUR 6 million to attract direct foreign investment
To attract foreign investors into research and development activities (RDA) in central and western region of Lithuania, the Ministry of Economy and Innovation published an invitation of EUR 6 million.

”Last year, we achieved truly excellent results in the field of direct foreign investment in Lithuania: 53 projects were approved, over 4,000 jobs are planned to be created and the investment of around EUR 207 million into fixed assets is planned in three years. Lithuania is welcoming the entry of 25 new international corporations, while 28 companies already doing business in Lithuania confirmed their development plans. Results show that we are on the right track by growing direct foreign investments to turn them into a long-term strategic direction of progressive Lithuania,” said Minister of Economy and Innovation Aušrinė Armonaitė.

According to the data of Invest in Lithuania, in the last three years from 2021, 157 investment projects were attracted, which are expected to create over 14,000 jobs. In three years, the investments reached EUR 516 million.

“To be competitive in the world, we have to increase investments into research and development sector. One of the ways to do so is to attract foreign investors to bring their contributions to development of innovative products and services in our country. Therefore, with the money of this invitation we will promote research and development and cooperation, increase transfer of technologies between large and very small, small and medium enterprises operating in the fields of technology and innovations. We will use foreign investors in pursuit of this goal,”the stated Chancellor of the Ministry of Economy and Innovation Iveta Paludnevičiūtė.

Foreign investors, being very small, small and medium enterprises (SME) and large companies cooperating with SME, can apply for financing within the framework of the TUI Invest measure.

Maximum financing support for one project is EUR 2 million.

Project implementation plans can be submitted to the public enterprise Innovation Agency until 31 May 2024.

This year, the Ministry of Economy and Innovation is planning to publish invitations for the total amount of around EUR 500 million.

In 2023, the Ministry of Economy and Innovation launched calls for over EUR 957.5 million, attracting about 3,000 applications from enterprises and institutions.

In 2023, 30 calls of the value of EUR 341.6 million were launched in the field of business, innovation and investment.

The TUI Invest measure is implemented in the period of 2021-2027 from the funds of the European Union fund investment programme.
