“EU investment remains one of the most important instruments, and we must be reasonable and targeted when investing every euro. Lithuania has been among the leading countries in investing Cohesion Policy funds efficiently and we do not intend to slow down in the future. Taking into account the experience of different countries, together with the Finance Ministers of Latvia and Estonia, we will look for ways to contribute to the growth of the Baltic States even more effectively,” said Gintarė Skaistė, Lithuanian Minister of Finance.
Focus on the future prospects
The past year has been full of challenges requiring reactive solutions in all areas. It is therefore natural that the underlying theme of this year’s ES+U conference is immunity. Both business and the public sector should take the opportunity to have a closer look at the developments in a highly dynamic market, the prospects for the future and to turn challenges into opportunities.
“We are living in times of volatility, which are changing the established attitudes, practices and routines. New situations require new approaches. It is therefore more important than ever to talk about and start preparing for the changes ahead. We hope that the event will provide the participants with valuable knowledge that will enable them to take advantage of EU investment opportunities more efficiently in the future and to prepare for developments in the market,” says Lidija Kašubienė, Head of the Central Project Management Agency.
Insights into future trends and scenarios in technology, labour market and other areas will be shared by futurists and professionals from across Europe and beyond. Well-known Lithuanian and foreign public figures will talk about innovation in business and the public sector. Representatives from the European Commission, Baltic Finance Ministers and other politicians will also attend the conference and discuss future challenges.
Speakers include Amelia Kallman, one of the Top 25 Women in the Metaverse, Saher Sidhom, a creator of innovation ecosystems, and Zane Čulkstēna, who will share her insights on ageing.
The European Sails 2023 Awards ceremony awaiting
The conference will culminate with the European Sails 2023 Awards for the best EU investment projects in Lithuania. The competition celebrating its 15th anniversary attracted a record number of participants, with 132 projects participating in seven different categories. The most popular nominations this year were for investment in sustainable environment and investment in people.
The applications are currently being reviewed by a jury and the EU-funded projects that create the most value for people, the region and the state will be awarded during the ES+U conference held at the end of November.
The conference is organised by the Central Project Management Agency in cooperation with the Public Institution Innovation Agency and the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Lithuania. The event is co-financed by the European Union. The event is free of charge, but registration is required due to the limited number of seats.
