According to the decision of the commission that evaluated the applications, the second prize and EUR 5,000 was awarded to UAB Precizika Metrology, a company that has developed modern technologies for optical raster encoders and their components. The technological process developed by the company has a wide range of applications: the production of raster optical components, the production of optical components with precise markings or codes, and glass cutting where requirements are imposed on the cut. The collaboration with the USA company Gurley Precision Instruments has enabled the company to better respond to the needs of its customers, due to the digitisation of production and the increase in efficiency. In addition, chemical processes have been abandoned, which allows for higher productivity while contributing to environmental protection by reducing waste and energy consumption.
UAB Genomika, which works in the fields of synthetic biology, genetics and biotechnology, has been recognised by the commission for its contribution to making a positive difference in the field of advanced genetic technologies. The company, in collaboration with the US biotechnology company Twist Bioscience, develops digital information recording, storage and reading in DNA molecules. Genomika has preserved historically significant data for Lithuania’s identity in the form of synthetic DNA that will last for millennia.
